Career Coaching

You may be stuck in a rut, bored, know that what you are doing is stressing you out and you want more work-life balance, or know what you want and not sure what pathway to take.

Some people know what they want to do from an early age. Other’s drift into roles; go to university and get a degree and then may decide it’s not what they want to do. Others create their own business. I was a drifter and along the way found my passion in training and the love of helping people to reach their potential. This lead me to my own consultancy business.

It can be very daunting to start the process of looking for your first job, or change your job which you have become very familiar with. This is true when you are wedged into a comfort zone, respected by your peers for the knowledge and skills you demonstrate, or having climbed the seniority ladder. This particularly hits a nerve when made redundant or handling the on-going changes that face organisations today. Venturing out into new territory for that new job or taking that next step for a promotion, or finding that next job to pay the bills and fund those holidays to the sun or mountains, etc. This brings with it a number of tasks to be considered – updating the C.V., writing a punchy covering letter, waiting for interview call, then preparation for the interview. How are you at handling behaviour interviews? or handling rejection when not successful and getting that all important feedback.

Career change statistics suggest that the average person will be making a career change approximately 5-7 times during their working life. It’s important then to have flexibility to transition. To be happy in your work and adding skills and knowledge to your work portfolio will also help. Spending some time to work out plan ‘B’ or is it plan ‘A’ is an important step. This will help your unconscious mind to start planning, attracting you to the right people, books, situations vacant, studies and seminars. So when the right time presents its self you take the next steps with ease.

My approach
Career Coaching is working with you to get your inside thoughts, dreams, aspirations and desires out, asking those questions that you are not asking yourself. Getting you to draw your vision board, complete card exercises that will highlight transferrable skills and your values in both life, work and sometime money can throw a new light on things for some people. Then together build the linkages.
